Community

Throughout its history in the Pikes Peak region, the Junior League of Colorado Springs has addressed many important community needs and launched or assisted with the formation of many landmark organizations in our community, including CASA, Ronald McDonald House and the Children’s Literacy Center. The JLCS has grown and evolved, both as initiator of projects, and as a ready partner to other non-profit organizations to address needs in the community. Over the past 90+ years, the Junior League of Colorado Springs has returned to the community over $2 million. JLCS volunteers have given over 2 million hours of service to the community.
The JLCS’ Community Service Corps (CSC) focuses its efforts on advocating for women and youth and enabling them to be effective and valuable citizens of this community. The CSC meets this vision through three major projects: Winter Wonderland, Fostering Change Fund, and Fostering Futures Program.
Winter Wonderland: A heartwarming event that brings the magic of the holidays to underserved children in the Colorado Springs community. Families enjoy dinner, activities, and a visit with presents from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Fostering Change Fund: In 2019, the Fostering Change Fund was established as a component of our Fostering Change focus area. It serves as a means of assisting teens and young adults facing transition out of foster care with specific, short-term monetary needs.
Fostering Futures Program: The goal of Fostering Futures is to provide a network of relational support and resources where adoptive families and children are seen and accepted. The program helps adoptive parents navigate the challenges associated with raising children who have experienced trauma and connect them with the resources they need to heal and thrive. The ultimate goal is to fortify former foster families and to provide adopted children with the hope of a brighter future.
